Creative Couple Photoshoot with 1977 Vintage Ford Bronco, Pine Mountain, Kentucky
Drive through the beauty of Pine Mountain in Letcher County Kentucky and enjoy this couple's journey of young love.
So what comes first the chicken or the egg you may ask? When planning a creative photoshoot, there are several ways I approach the creative process.Â
-
The first things to consider are wardrobe, location, and will there be any props?
-
Second, who is in charge of these decisions, me or my client or both?
-
Next, what time of day will the session be which leads to . . .Â
-
Lastly, what type of lighting will be needed? Natural with reflections, Off-Camera Flash? Â
Â
For the Vintage photoshoot, we were fortunate enough to have a GIANT PROP, A Dreamy Orange and Cream Colored (Dreamsicle) 1977 Ford!!!!!! SO, my clients and I planned for months in advance and more so when it got closer to the date of the session.Â
Jaden Pugh and his gorgeous girlfriend are returning clients so they knew to book this session very early in the year for a guaranteed beautiful fall background. We chose the last week in October.Â
Once we had a date nailed down, Jaden and Himala planned their outfits to match the 1977 Ford Bronco.Â
As the date approached we watched the weather like hawks to ensure the leaves were at their peak season in Eastern Kentucky. If you have never been on Pine Mountain during October then I feel very sorry for you. Plan to go this year. It could easily be a "Bucket List" location for people who love the outdoors, fall, and a reason to leave the house.Â

The photoshoot was a perfectly created dream come true for me. Jaden and Himala are creative free spirits who love the arts, music, natural beauty and each other, so honestly, they made my job easy.Â
Jaden is a Videographer/Cinematographer/Content Creator so being in his own video had it's challenges. He enlisted the help of his brother, Josh to shoot the video he later edited and created. We actually used the help of his whole family to pull this one off without a hitch. His Dad had to make sure the Bronco was in good driving condition as well as perfectly cleaned for the photoshoot. His Dad is also a great reflector holder LOL! Â
We shot the session at "Golden Hour" which is something I honestly don't do very often. I tell people all the time I've made a really good living at shooting at the worst times of day. It stretches my skills sometimes with shooting mid day but I also truly love daylight.Â
Mid Day Sun, however, would not have worked for the vibe we were going for.Â
For the editing process, I use Adobe Lightroom to import, white balance, and cull, export to jpeg, then pulled the images into Photoshoot for the true edit. I rarely edit or "color grade" rich, deep, "orange" tones unless I have the colors in the image harmonized with that. It's just my very personal preference and orange tones do not always lend themselves to true skin tones unless it's actually sunset. It's so much fun to play with color grading!!!!!!!Â
My process for color grading these images involved Alien Skin (Exposure 7). It's a great Plug-In for photoshop and a starting point for creative stuff.Â

One of the highlights of this photoshoot was being recognized by Ford Bronco for our amazing images and video . . . Â
. . . And of course, building a connection with clients I love to serve and now call friends.Â
If you look at this last image, and probably my favorite, Jaden and Himala have a very "Danny & Sandy" vibe going on in those images looking back at the camera. I could swear they almost floated right over the clouds.Â
